Karen lived in Collbran, CO, and passed in Grand Junction, CO at St Mary's Hospital due to natural health complications with COPD/Emphysema on 06/12/2024. She was the daughter of Melvin Brewer and Delores Fitts. She was married to Gerald Michael Clarke on 07/02/1969 in Denver, CO. She and Mike, as he liked to be called, were married for 53 years until his passing on 01/19/2022. How did they meet you ask, on a blind date. No details were given as to exactly how the date went or what happened, but they were happily married and had two wonderful children.
Karen spent all her life in Denver with Mike and was the warehouse manager for United Cable for quite some time. She ended this career when she was hurt on the job by a large cable wheel falling on her and crushing her chest. Yes, she believed in guardian angels and that is what kept her around until she was diagnosed with COPD/Emphysemas. She and Mike would travel the world, raise their two children, garden, and enjoy their life together.
Karen enjoyed all types of crafts which included painting pictures and rocks, making jewelry, and gardening. When the weather began to heat up and become nice enough for her to go outside, she would say to her children, "l need to go to Home Depot to get some flowers for the garden". This year, on the first day of very nice weather in Collbran, she and her son had a yard sale. The money they made, she said to her son, "You can use that money to get some flowers for the garden so I can plant them tomorrow". As for her crafts, her daughter-in-law had taken her to a basket weaving class in Collbran n and she really enjoyed herself and wanted to do more, but her health did not allow this to happen.
Karen had two wonderful children Gerald Craig Clarke (Kristine) and Traci Lynn Clarke (Todd McDiffett). Between the two children, Karne has 9 grandchildren (David —Sariah, Patrick— Dulcey, Cale— Monica, Olivia, Jason (J), Ava, Ceasar (C.J), Morgan) and 3 Great grandchildren (Michael, Paisley, Mckaleigh).
Karen's son and his wife, Kristine had helped raise her nephew (Cale) and she had treated him like family and felt like she had gained another grandchild. When Cate married his wife Monica and with her daughter Mckaleigh, Karen then felt she had once again gained another grandchild, Monica, and a great-grandchild, Mckaleigh.
Karen and Mike's door was always open to any of their children's or grandchildren’s friends or family with no questions asked. Their home was always inviting to all.
Karen will be missed but all her memories will be remembered.
We all love you with all our hearts and we are glad you are together again with Mike.
A memorial service in Karen's honor will be held at Martin Mortuary on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at 10am with a reception to follow immediately after the service. The reception will be held
