Karen was born on June 25, 1945, in Alhambra, California, to James Jeter and Elizabeth Anne (Reece) Sharrer. She spent her childhood in Monrovia, California and graduated from Monrovia High School. She married George Atwell Rohrig on July 31, 1963, in Pasadena, California. They later divorced, and George passed away on August 26, 2021. Karen lived in California until 1973, when she moved to many different places including Idaho (1973-1993), Oregon (1993-1995), Washington (1995-1996), and back to Idaho (1996-2004). She moved to Colorado in 2004 and spent her remaining years there.
Throughout her life Karen was a florist, an activities director, and a secretary for senior living facilities; but her true passion was art. When Karen was 12, she discovered that she could draw and liked designing clothes. In high school, she joined the choir, and as an adult she learned flower arranging. One of her greatest joys was painting pictures for friends and family.
Karen is survived by her son, Adam (Heather Hayes) Rohrig, of New Meadows, Idaho; Her daughter, Amy (Christopher) Packard, of Grand Junction; her sister, Linda (Emet) Hall of Boise, Idaho; her grandson, Josh; and great-grandchildren, Eva and Eli.
