Katherine Gail Bird

September 6, 1952 - November 10, 2021

Kathy Bird passed away at her home surrounded by family on November 10, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Medicine Lodge KS, to John Leslie Warwick and Vera Irene Warwick (Moore). She graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1970 and received a degree in dental hygiene from Wichita State University. Married to Paul Bird in Wichita, KS 12/30/1972. They moved to Grand Junction in 1979, and spent 42 years there. She spent 9 years as a dental hygienist before returning to school to receive another degree in accounting from Mesa State University. She spent 30 years working for private companies as an accountant.

When she wasn’t working, Kathy loved to spend time gardening, sewing, painting, baking, and chauffeuring her children and grandchildren around. She had a love for home design and decor and really enjoyed spending time in Kansas at her childhood home. She was a member of Faith Heights Church in Grand Junction.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Paul; Children, Adam (Shamira) Bird, Grand Junction, CO; Lora (Whitney) Miller-Bird, Denver, CO; Sisters Betty (Frosty) Parr, Frontenac, KS; Mary Jean (Tony) Miller, Medicine Lodge, KS, and her three Grandchildren Tristin, Jaxon and Sterling.

A celebration of life is scheduled for December 4, from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Redlands Community Center. There will be a service in Medicine Lodge, KS approximately June 4, 2022
