Kevin was a proud Marine, patriot, loving husband, son and brother. Above all he was Daddy to his precious girls, Natalie, age 5, and Kourtney, age 1, whom he loved playing with more than anything in the world. Kevin went to heaven in the high mountain, wildflower covered meadow and forest following an accident while preparing for this year's archery season. Kevin was born in Henderson, Nevada then spent his first years of school in Fillmore, California enjoying his duties as "Top Farm hand" with his family on his grandparents ranch. He drove the golf cart chasing cows and fishing in the lake before he could even sit and reach the golf cart pedals. His elementary school years were spent on the Crystal River in Carbondale fishing trophy trout and then in New Castle in the National Forest up West Elk Creek in the family home hunting and playing "mountain golf": hit the ball, find it with the golf cart and go again! His middle and high school years in Fruita, Colorado were filled with baseball, fishing, hunting and 4-H. Kevin excelled at everything he did and was proud of winning Grand Champion Beef Showman his very first year! His years in the Marine Corps were dear to him. He was an electro-optical technician and so accomplished at repairing the laser guidance devices for missiles that all four branches sent their work to Kevin when no one else could repair them! He was in Kuwait for the initial invasion and ensured precision night site for the howitzers and other essential equipment. It was while in the Marines he met Debbie and was married in 2001. They enjoyed their little home in Jacksonville, North Carolina. After his military service they settled in Denver then, to be near family, Fruita, Colorado. With the falling economy it broke Kevin's heart to have to work out of town in Denver but as always he did "whatever it takes" to support his family. He was very accomplished in concrete and could frame, build, or pour anything and enjoyed the artistic side of decorative concrete and counter tops too. Kevin's most recent claim to fame was the modification of a Jeep Cherokee. He had the very best times with Debbie and the girls at the annual Moab Rally, Telluride Jeep Rally and everywhere else he could find, including the back of his parents farm! Kevin was a wonderful big brother teaching all to fish, drive and even sometimes play an ornery trick on their little sister! Kevin is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Natalie and Kourtney; parents, Gary and Tami Roberts; siblings, Scott Roberts, Brian Roberts and Christine Roberts, and grandparents, Loren and Mable Bowers of Fillmore, California and Marilyn Roberts of Van Nuys, California. Other family members include a niece, many cousins, aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Alpine Bank Memorial Fund on behalf of his daughters or to the Garfield County, Colorado Search and Rescue unit, without whose professional dedication we might not have found our beloved Kevin. Funeral services will be at Monument View Bible Church 1173 17 1/2 Road, Fruita on Tuesday, July 26 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a meal and "Kevin" stories. Full color guard graveside services will be Wednesday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction.
