Lela Dowd

September 23, 1950 – October 27, 2012

Lela Dowd passed away October 27, 2012 at her Grand Junction home, she was 62. Lela was born on September 23, 1950 in Grand Junction from the union of Les and Irene Kline. She attended Central High School was married to Ben Dowd for forty-five years.

Lela was co-owner of Ben Dowd Excavating, Inc and was self-employed until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, crafting and car shows. She loved being with her family, being called “Nana” and spoiling her grandkids and driving her blue 1957 Chevy.

Lela leaves behind her husband; Ben Dowd of Grand Junction, her children; Curtis (Jessica) Dowd of Grand Junction, Lisa (John) Elmer of New Castle and Rebecca Dowd of Grand Junction, a sister; Leslie Harper and brother Richard Kline, grandchildren; DeJon Tyler Elmer, Kyra Ann Dowd, Macy Jo Elmer, Austin Thomas Dowd and her special dog Hard-Top.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Leo Slotterback and sister; Linda Kline.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 5, 2012 at Martin Mortuary.
