His family moved about 1935 from Winfield Kansas to Colorado .
He attended school at Delta, Cedaredge, Palisade, and graduated at Grand Junction High in 1947.
He married Flora M Rupe in 1950. They had 2 sons and 3 daughters, Gary, Alan, Janet, Carol, Donna.
He worked as a carpenter after high school. He bought land to build a subdivision near 29 and Orchard Ave. He traded a house for a backhoe to Leroy Coleman (Western Implement) in 1959 and started doing custom work for others. His sons started helping him very early, and together with his wife, they built the family business as Parkerson Construction. Leon retired in 1982, but never stopped helping. His children and grandchildren continue to grow the company into an aggregate supplier, as well as developing and building subdivisions.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, a hardworking Christian man. He left his mark in all who knew him.
