February 11, 1945 - December 11, 2013
Linda was born February 11, 1945 in Hesperus Colorado to Debs Winston Paulek and Alice Edna Paulek. After a long fight with cancer, she left this life on December 11, 2013 with loved ones at her side. She was 68.
Linda was raised in the Durango area and attended Durango High School. While living in Alliance Nebraska, she met and married Robert Matticks. They had three daughters, Anna, Lori and Bonnie. During their marriage they also lived in Durango, Colorado and then settled in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was a wonderful mother and friend. She loved raising her girls and then helping with her grandsons. She found great joy in traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Linda found her calling late in life when she began her career as a caregiver. She found much joy and peace in taking care of others. In 2011 she received the Caregiver of the Year award from her employer, Comfort Keepers. She was very honored and surprised by this, as she didn't see what she did as any thing extraordinary. To her she was just doing what she loved, what she was meant to do.
Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Matticks, Austin, Texas and Anna Matticks, Grand Junction; grandsons Robert and Christopher Matticks, Grand Junction. Brother, Fred Paulek, Hesperus, Colorado and sister, Loretta Lee Paulek, Hesperus, Colorado; as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Her daughter Lori Matticks preceded her in death.
Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm, following a one hour visitation time (from 1pm to 2pm) in Grand Junction at the Canyon View Vineyards Church. She will be interred at Greenmont Cemetery in Durango Colorado. Donations may be made to HopeWest of Grand Valley
