Lisa Matlock, 51, died on August 21, 2019 peacefully at the home of her sister, Stephanie Matlock in Grand Junction. She had been battling pancreatic cancer with stubbornness and strength. Lisa was an outdoor educator and had worked over her adult life for the National Park Service as a park ranger, the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Alaska as an outdoor educator, and for the PWSRCAC non-profit in Anchorage as an outdoor educator. She traveled all over the state of Alaska to many small native villages and Alaskan towns doing various school programs about the wildlife and the natural environment. She grew up in Durango, Colorado, and attended college at the University of Chicago. She is survived by her husband, James Burns, her sister, Stephanie Matlock (Doug), her father, Gary Matlock (Jan) and several nieces and nephews. She was a gregarious person full of life and will be missed by many, many people. Donations can be made in her name for Colorado Public Radio, Grand Valley Audubon and Roice-Hurst Humane Society.
