Mr. Lowell Shormann passed away at the Hospice Care Center on October 1, 2012, with his daughter by his side. Lowell was born January 29, 1941 to Floyd and Helen Strauss Shormann in Ottawa, Kansas. He graduated from East High School in Denver, Colorado in 1959 and continued his studies at CU Boulder for two years. He was a proud member of the Colorado National Guard from 1963 – 1968. Lowell was very active in the community he was a member of Kiwanas, as well as United Methodist Church, and a volunteer for the Salvation Army. Lowell was most recently employed as a school bus driver for First Student where he drove elementary students to Pomona Elementary School. Lowell enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, photography, cooking, gardening and watching his beloved Colorado Rockies. Lowell is survived by his son Michael (Simone) Shormann of Golden, Colorado, Daughter Jenni (John) Sopsic of Montrose, Colorado, brother Bob Shormann of Austin, Texas, and grandson Christian Sopsic. A celebration of Lowell’s life will be held at Martin Mortuary on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Lowell’s name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado 3090 North 12th Street, Unit B Grand Junction Colorado 80506.
