Lydia Marie Greenwald (Frisinger) was born on April 28, 1953 to Inez Frisinger (Atencio) and Harley Frisinger in Denver, Colorado. She passed away on September 21, 2023 at the age of 70, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was raised in Denver, Colorado with brothers Harley and Andy and was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. Lydia was a faithful daughter of the Lord Jesus who she trusted and loved from the time she was 19 years old.
Lydia worked at the Rocky Mountain Bank Note where she met her loving husband, Mike Greenwald. They were married March 9, 1974, in Denver. Mike and Lydia were best friends and nearly inseparable. Four years later they started their family with their daughter Sarah. They moved around to a few places including Buena Vista, Colorado, and Sacramento, California before settling down in Grand Junction Colorado. Here they completed their family with daughter Amy and son Sam. Lydia loved her children and loved being a mom more than anything, until becoming a grandma in 2000. Her greatest love in life was her 11 grandchildren and she spent most of her free time traveling to visit them.
She worked as a scheduler at St. Mary’s hospital for a time and then began work at Rocky Mountain Orthopedics as a receptionist, where she worked for 25 years until December of 2022 when she retired to spend more time with her family. Lydia loved her job, all the people she worked with and the patients she encountered daily.
Not only did Lydia love her children and grandchildren, but she also always talked about how blessed she was with the spouses that her children have, she had a special relationship with Mike, Luke and Katelyn and loved them dearly.
Lydia is preceded in death by her husband Mike; her parents, Harley and Inez Frisinger; and her mother and father-In-law Ray and Eva Greenwald.
She is survived by her adoring family: her daughter, Sarah with Luke Roswell of Fort Collins, CO and their children, Jacob, Nathan, Olivia, Hayden, Ruby, and McCoy; her daughter, Amy with Mike Zatkowsky of Erie, CO and their children, Alexander, Eleanor, and Harrison; her son, Sam with Katelyn Greenwald of Fort Collins, CO and their children, Eli, Abby, and Carter. As well as her brothers Harley Frisinger and Andy Atencio, nieces Andi and Valerie, step-son Michael Greenwald, and many loving cousins and friends.
Lydia will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her generous and kind spirit.
