Marilyn Marty L Lancaster

Marty was born on September 23, 1936, in Longmont, CO to Robert Henry Parton and Corrine Ruby Lucas. Marty spent most of her school years in and around the Denver area. She graduated from East High School in Denver and attended Colorado A&M in Fort Collins (now CSU), as well as Barnes Business College, Denver, CO.

On June 30th, 1956 Marty married the love of her life David P. Lancaster in Denver, CO. Together they had four children and continued living in Denver and Lakewood until their move to Grand Junction 13 years ago. Upon moving they became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Marty worked as a secretary for St. Jude Catholic Church in Lakewood, CO and then for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fruita, CO. She also volunteered for Hospice’s Cups Coffee House, Heirlooms for Hospice, and at the Catholic Outreach. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Survivors include her husband David Lancaster of Grand Junction, CO., three sons; Mark D. Lancaster of Pittsburg, PA, Douglas K. Lancaster of Berthoud, CO, and Daniel E. Lancaster of Lake Tapps, WA. One daughter; Paula T. Lancaster of Grand Junction, CO. Two sisters; Peggy A. Stebbins of Northglenn, CO, and Bobbie Joe Graves of Denver, CO, as well as 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on 790 26 1/2 Rd. Grand Junction, CO 81506. Father Jim Plough will be officiating. . Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado at 3090 N. 12th Street, unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
