Tony, was born and raised in Scobey, Montana on his parents' farm and developed a love for farming and ranching. He worked for John Richardson's sheep Ranch in Opiem, Montana; Milton Simpson's Ranch south of Miles City, Montana; the Circle S Ranch in Dillon, Montana; and the Eagle Ranch Company in Eagle, Colorado. He returned to Scobey in the early 70's and continued farming on the LaMotte homestead. He later retired to the Grand Junction area and enjoyed spending time helping his friends with various ranching activities. He loved the Grand Mesa and exploring the many lakes fishing with friends and family. Tony will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 45 years and his three children. Son, Richard LaMotte and his wife, Nancy, of Welsh, Louisiana and their children: Field, his wife Elisabeth, and Great Grandson, Field Jr., known as Bishop; Ashley (LaMotte) Goldman, her husband Neil and Great Granddaughter, Clara; and Sloan LaMotte. Daughter, Charlotte (LaMotte) McLain and her husband, Darrell, of Bradenton, Florida and their children: Heather McLain; Laura (McLain) Thomas, and her husband Toby. Daughter, Michele (LaMotte) Von Strohe and husband, Stan, of Dallas, Texas and their children: Sarah Pierce and her husband, Nick; Stacy Bryant and her husband, Chris; Shane Von Strohe; and two stepsons, Phil Strubi, of Seattle, Washington and Timothy Banta of Georgia. Tony was proud of the family he had raised, especially that each of his children have contributed to the greater good in our society.
We have faith that we will all be united with our dear Tony again after death. We are hoping to meet this coming spring, or summer, and have a gathering of family, and a few close friends to celebrate Tony, and to let the wind carry his ashes to a beautiful and peaceful resting place.
Arrangements under the direction of Martin Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO.
