With deep reverence for life, my brother Bill Metz and I share an obituary for our dear mother. The stories that her friends and family are sharing bring great comfort. Her celebration of life will be on zoom February 12, 2023 at 2:00 mountain time.
Marjorie Kuttnauer Metz, daughter of Lillian Seaman Kuttnauer and Melvin Kuttnauer was born in Detroit, Michigan April 14, 1934. She passed peacefully and gracefully February 1, 2023, with her family at her bedside. In her final hours she was surrounded by her two children, Bill Metz and Ellen Friedman, and son-in-law Jere Friedman. She is also survived by her granddaughter Rachel Branham (Jefe Branham) and grandson Benjamin Alter (Suzanna Alter) and great-granddaughters Lillian Sage Branham and Grace Juniper Alter, as well as her nieces and nephews, Bonnie, Marc, Nancy, Tom and Cindy.
In Detroit, Marge raised her children and entered the world of fashion in sales and as a buyer for high-end women’s apparel. In 1976 Marge moved with her husband Bob to La Jolla, California, where they opened two stores under one roof: Sportique, a women’s sportswear boutique and Video World.
After almost 30 years, she joined her daughter and son-in-law in Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked in interior design. There she spent time with her grandchildren and her other love Gigi, a rescue poodle. She enjoyed playing tennis until age 79, book club, canasta, bridge, gourmet gals and the Society for Arts. In 2021, Marge followed Ellen and Jere to Grand Junction, CO. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren also visited her regularly in Grand Junction. To no one’s surprise she created new friendships and community in her new home. We want to express our gratitude to all her fun-loving friends and caregivers throughout the years.
