Mary E. Cole

Mary was born in Madison Lake, Minnesota on October 13, 1913 to James Vaughn and Bridget (Smith) Vaughn. She was 9 years old when her mother died and lived with various relatives before settling with her sisters in Highwood, Illinois. It was here she met her future husband; Lloyd P. Cole. They were married February 17, 1938.

The couple moved to Colorado in 1946 and to palisade in 1954. Mary kept very busy raising her 5 children and volunteering at St. Ann Catholic Church. She taught Religious Education classes, and was an active member and president of the Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her 5 children; Judy Cole and Dennis Cole, both of Palisade, Mike Cole of Grand Junction, Betty Twitchell of Wasilla, AK, and Phil Cole of Manassas Park, VA, five grandchildren; Daren (Becky) Cole of Grand Junction, Diana Cole of Durango, CO, Dan (Isha) Twitchell, David Twitchell, and Saranne Twitchell; all of Wasilla, Alaska, as well as 8 great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held at St Ann Church in Palisade on Wednesday, February 27th at 7p.m. Funeral services will be held the following day, February 28th, 2013 at St. Ann’s at 10 a.m. with graveside services to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church: 535 West 1st Street, Palisade, CO 81526.
