Mrs. Hellman was a library aide for School District 51.
Survivors include her husband, Edward “Stan”; three daughters, Judith Wadkins and Connie Clark, both of Grand Junction and Janet Gray of Delta; one brother, CW Hook of Higginsville, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Margaret ""Marg"" Hellman passed away on December 24, 2015 in Grand Junction, CO. Mary Margaret was born on December 4, 1922 on the family farm near Odessa in Lafayette County, Missouri to Claude and Lydia Hook. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1941. Mary Margaret's contribution to her country's World War II effort was to help her father on the family farm while her brother served in the Navy.
She met Edward Stanley Hellman in Evergreen, CO and they were married in Leavenworth, Kansas on January 21, 1947. Edward and Mary lived in many places in Colorado and Utah while he worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. They moved to Grand Junction in 1961. Mary graduated from Mesa College and worked as a library technican for School District 51. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, sewing, needlework, gardening and golfing.
Mary did a lot of volunteer work. She was instrumental in starting the 4-H program on Orchard Mesa where she served as the Community 4-H Club leader for many years. She was very active in Mesa County Extension Homemakers Club, Western Colorado Arabian Horse Club, and several card clubs. She loved serving as a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church where she was known for her banana nut bread and angel food cakes. Mary had a generous heart and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She treasured her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward Stanley Hellman; a brother, C.W. Hook of Higginsville, Missouri; daughters, Judith Wadkins, Janet Gray and Connie Clark; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and a daughter, Donna Kossler.
Services will be held Thursday, December 31 at 1 p.m. at Crossroads United Methodist Church. Internment will be at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
