Mary Lou Snell

December 3, 1925 - April 6, 2016

Mary Lou Snell passed away April 6, 2016 at the Paonia Care and Rehabilitation Center, she was 90.

Mary Lou was born from the union of Joseph Levi and Mable Claire (Cammack) Bishop on December 3, 1925 in Hotchkiss, Colorado. She graduated from the Hotchkiss High School in 1943 and after graduation moved to California.

She married Kenneth Leon Woods in January 1953 and from this union three children were born. They later divorced in 1961. Mary Lou lived in Denver, Colorado for over forty years and for over twenty years lived in the Cherry Creek Townhouses in Denver. She retired in 1991as Secretary for the University Of Colorado School Of Dentistry, she had worked there for twenty years.

Mary Lou moved back to her roots in Hotchkiss 20 years ago. She was a member of the Hotchkiss Methodist Community Church, the Peace Circle, Harmony Club, Hotchkiss Music and Art Club and volunteered at the Wearhouse Thrift Store. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and her kids.

Mary Lou leaves behind three children; Pamela Sue Woods of Hotchkiss, Colorado; Steven Robert Woods of Rifle, Colorado, Michael Lee Woods of Hotchkiss, Colorado, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Hotchkiss Methodist Community Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hotchkiss Methodist Community Church.
