Mary Nell Thomas

Mary Nell (Craig) Thomas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 27, 2026, at HopeWest in Grand Junction, Colorado, at the age of 69.

Mary was born in Grand Junction on October 25, 1956, to James “Shorty” and Mary Joan Craig. She was the youngest of two daughters and grew up alongside her sister, Debbie. She was a proud graduate of Fruita Monument High School, Class of 1975.

Mary is survived by her high school sweetheart/husband of 49 years, Steve Thomas; her children, Kurtis (Erica) Thomas and Sara (Zac) Cram; her sister, Debbie (Jeff) Parkes; and her grandchildren, Tyson and Carlee Thomas, and Charly and Jessie Cram. Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents.

For 32 years, Mary worked at multiple City Market locations throughout the Grand Valley. Mary dedicated much of her working life to serving others and building relationships with the people around her. To those who knew and loved Mary, her greatest joy was found in the people she surrounded herself with.

Mary had a loving spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. Her laughter and warmth made those around her feel at home. She treasured being surrounded by family and friends and cherished the time she spent with the people she loved. She especially enjoyed cooking and entertaining, finding joy in bringing people together around a table to share stories, laughter, and memories. Mary was always making plans, checking in, and finding ways to stay connected. She never let distance or busy lives keep her from reaching out. For Mary, the greatest moments were simply being together with the people who mattered most.

Some of her happiest times were spent with her family and friends at their Arrowhead property. She loved heading out on ATV adventures with Steve. Those simple moments, being together, enjoying the outdoors, and making memories, were the moments she treasured most.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Clifton Christian Church, 3241 F 1/4 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81520. Immediately following, family and friends are warmly invited to an open house to come together to remember Mary, share stories, and celebrate the life and love she so generously gave to those around her.

Mary loved well and was well loved in return.
