

Mary Wierenga, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at her home in Clifton, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 9, 1939, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Menno Wierenga and Hildegard Schuster.
Mary grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she graduated from St. Joseph's Cathedral High School in 1957. She went on to become a licensed practical nurse and later a certified respiratory therapist. Mary lived in the Tri-Cities area in Washington state before moving to the Grand Junction area, where she resided for the last 17 years.
Mary had a passion for camping, cribbage, and sports, especially women's soccer, football, and baseball. In her later years, she enjoyed building with Legos and volunteering for Senior Companions, an organization she had been involved with since her time in the Tri-Cities.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Menno and Hildegard Wierenga, and her brothers David and Rev. Paul J. Wierenga, O.P. She is survived by her brothers Ron Wierenga (Sandie) from Alabama and Stephen Wierenga from Wisconsin, her sister Nancy Glavan from Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary's final resting place will be at Einan's at Sunset in Richland, Washington. May Mary's memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
