

Matthew Lorence Bristol November 6, 1978 - September 10, 2024 Matthew Lorence Bristol, age 45, passed away from cancer the morning of Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was with his family and comfort of Hospice care at HopeWest in Grand Junction, CO.
He was born November 6, 1978, in Grand Junction, CO, to Donald R. Bristol and Jeanne Heiny Bristol. He was raised on the family farm which instilled in him a love of farm life and especially the fall and harvest months. Matthew took great pride in the garden plants, flowers and vegetables. He grew pumpkins every year, large and small!
Matthew attended schools in Fruita, CO. While at FMHS, he loved helping in the lunchroom. Always serving food, drinks, cleaning and enjoying the students' friendships. He was chosen as the manager of the FMHS Basketball team and was known as "Matt the Cat." In later years, he brought mom and dad to become major Denver Nuggets fans!
Matthew was a breath of fresh air for anyone lucky enough to have his life touch theirs. Those who knew him could actually see a better world through his eyes.
In later years, he was known for his good nature which was contagious. He had a spirit and anxiousness to live his best life in every day. He was a member of the group, "For the Fun of it," with Pat Garland. He was also a member of "Steppin' it Up, Inc,"an exercise program with Stacy Thurlow. The love of Matthew's friends and family were "good medicine," for which he was always thankful.
His favorite hobby was to decorate for Christmas and Halloween with as many lights as possible! He loved hummingbirds, camping trips, and fishing. He was a natural at weather watching, music, bowling and puzzles.
His greatest gift was love for all people and his love for all animals, especially for his cats, Connie, Maisie and Lola.
His company will be forever missed and his presence will always be felt. We loved him beyond words and will be grateful for everyday of happiness he brought into our lives.
Matthew was preceded in death by grandparents, J. Lee and Wanda Bristol, and Lorence C. and Janella Heiny.
He is survived by his dad, Donald Bristol; and his mom, Jeanne Heiny Bristol of Grand Junction; his brother, D. Grant and Gwen Bristol of Palisade. Also honored to share his life are Uncle James L. and Tonya Heiny, Uncle Harvey L. and Linda Heiny, Uncle David L. and Janet Bristol, Aunt Janice and Roger Crunk, and Aunt Lisa Marie Bristol; as well as many cousins and their extended families.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Open House on September 28, 2024, from 11:30-3:00 PM, at the family home, 2940 Brodick Way, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
