Matt grew up on a working ranch in Plateau Valley, attending school there from kindergarten through 12th Grade. His goal in highschool was to play football with his cousins and friends, making all league and all state his senior year. Matt joined the United States Marine Corps before he turned 18. After surviving boot camp, his first duty station was 29 Palms, CA then Kaneohe Bay, HI deploying twice to Okinawa, Mainland Japan, Camp Fuji and other islands in the Pacific attached to the Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines as a field radio operator. After an honorable discharge he returned home working for his dad and then getting a job with the Mesa County Road and Bridge crew. Matt married Angi Rubino and had two children Madelyn, 14 and Matthew, 10. He was a loving husband and father who happily participated in tea parties and teaching Military tactics around the house. Matt also loved all things outdoors, hunting big game and predators, fishing and 4 wheeler rides.
Matt is survived by his wife Angi, 2 children Madelyn and Matthew, his parents Marty and Sandee Woodring, Sisters Laurie Parker and Jaime Woodring. Grandmother Bobbie Holt and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
