Max Alvin Smith

Max was born on February 18, 1941, near Pacific Junction, IA, one of nine children of Chester Alvin and Eva Katherine (Powles) Smith. He graduated with the class of 1960 from the Glenwood High School in Glenwood IA. He joined the US Army August 1965-1967.

Max and Barbara Kay Brown were united in marriage on April 18, 1969. Barbara preceded him in death on March 29,2012.

Max worked as automotive/diesel mechanic all his life and continued this even after retirement. His passion was to build and restore cars. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Charles Smith and wife Wilma, Sidney Smith, and his sister Delores Jones.

He is survived by his son Derek Smith and wife Cari of Grand Junction, CO, six grandchildren and their spouses, and thirteen great grandchildren, brother Keith Smith and wife Linda of MO, sister Judy Auxier and husband Keith of IA, sister Carolyn Johnson and husband Max of IA, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
