Merredith Gail Helmick-Von Burg was born in Delta, Colorado, on January 6, 1944, to Clarke and Carolie Helmick, of Cory, Colorado.
Merredith was a well remembered and loved teacher at Clifton Elementary.
She married Earl S. Von Burg, Jr. in 1981, and gained an instant family! He passed in 2007.
Merredith is survived by three daughters, Tami (Ron) Duran, Sheli Mae, and Deena Von Burg (Brian), and her "best friend", Sylvio Barile all of Colorado. In addition she had 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was forever grateful to her husband for providing her with such a large family.
Other survivors include siblings, Leslie Julian, of MO; Gordon Helmick, of CO; Tracy Barksdale, of Florida, and sister-in-law, Marianne Helmick, of Texas; as well as brother-in-law, Karl (Judy), of Grand Junction, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Earl, and step-daughter, Lori Von Burg, she is predeceased by her parents; half-sister, Norma Jean Davis; brother, Jim Helmick, and brother, Alan Helmick.
Celebration of life will be Saturday, August 7, 1:00 p.m., at Callahan-Edfast, 2515 Patterson, Grand Junction, followed by a (bring your own lunch and chair) picnic at Hidden Park, just East of 14th Street and Mesa Ave.
Donations may be made in Merredith's name to HopeWest in Grand Junction.
