My memories of my Great Uncle Mike include the general feelings I have from having the Kiefel bloodline in me, which is a strong work ethic, a faith in something bigger than myself, and a willingness to put in the work in order to appreciate the rewards. Clearly Uncle Mike put in the work, as he was rewarded with nearly a century in this reality. He will be missed, along with his siblings that have preceded him, my grandmother Mary Ann, my great aunts Barbara and Katie, uncles Jack, Joe, and Marc, and lastly, great aunt Helen who's still with us. I wish I could be there to celebrate the life of Uncle Mike, but my thoughts are with him always and with those who are able to travel from near and far to celebrate the life of Michael J. Kiefel.

Uncle Mike was a big part of my life growing up. When he, Aunt Gaye, and Michael Anthony lived in California they would come visit us every summer. The summer I was 15 years old I was blessed to be able to join them here in Colorado and finish their summer road trip with them through many places. Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and eventually ending at their home in Redwood City, CA. I will cherish this memory forever. I have many memories of them after they moved to Grand Junction, the short time they lived with us here on the front range while Aunt Gaye was battling cancer, and so many memories of sharing special times with my Aunts and Uncles at so many family gatherings. I may not carry the Kiefel name, but I certainly have that warm hearted Kiefel blood in my veins. As we get older we allow distance and time to get in the way, and do not see each other enough  but that love is always in our hearts. I am so proud to be a Kiefel. I love you.
