Myrna Cooper April 01,1931 – September 10, 2026
Myrna Cooper was born Myrna Mae Smith on April 01, 1931, to a farming family in Nebraska. She was born next to last of 10 children in the Smith family. Her family moved to Colorado when Myrna was still a toddler. The family continued farming in Gunnison, Colorado and the surrounding area.
While still in high school, Myrna met William Asa Cooper or “Ace” as his friends called him for his prowess on the basketball court. Bill and Myrna had 3 children; Daryll (DG), Bruce, and Janet. Bruce was lost in an infancy health complication which took his life at only 2 ½ years old. The remaining 2 children grew up in a loving family that nourished them through adulthood.
Bill and Myrna continued in marriage until Bill’s death in January of 2004. Myrna lived in their family home until memory issues required her to move to Solstice where she lived comfortably and securely until health issues struck and she required hospitalization. After moving to hospice, our Heavenly Father bent down to her ear and whispered; “Tis time to come home.” Myrna left willingly and peacefully to rejoin her beloved Bill. She was 95.
Myrna is preceded in death by her husband Bill, sons Bruce and Daryll, and various sisters and brothers. Myrna is survived by her daughter Jan, her grandchildren Desiree and Aaron Cooper, and Ryan and Ashley Mercer. Myrna also leaves behind 7 Great Grandchildren.
A celebration of life will is to be determined
