Nicolette (“Nicky”) Sue Bozeman, age 59, of Grand Junction, Colorado went to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday January 6, 2012,after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She passed peacefully at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Western Colorado. Nicolette was a long-time resident of the Houston area, and was honorably retired after 21 years of service to the Houston Police Department. She graduated from Academy Class # 114. During her outstanding career, she served as a patrol officer at the Beechnut Patrol Division, the Juvenile Division, and retired from the Homicide Division in 2004.
Nicolette is survived by her husband, Dr. James Michael Bozeman (also HPD retiree 2005) of The University of Texas at Tyler, her daughter, Erin Biancha Smith of Pearland, Texas, her stepson Andy Smith of South Houston, Texas, her stepdaughter, Lauren Ashley Bozeman of League City, Texas, her mother, Betty Biancha Gale of Arvada, Colorado, her sisters Michelle Long, of Littleton, Colorado and Victoria Kraft of Pueblo, Colorado, as well as numerous extended family members residing across the U. S. She is also survived by her large and loving Houston Police Department Family, whom she will continue to love and watch over from heaven above through eternity.
A private viewing was held for family at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. A memorial mass for family, friends and fellow police officers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 15500 El Camino Real, Houston, Texas. The mass will be followed by a tribute by the Houston Police Honor Guard on the grounds of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. A reception for family, friends, and fellow officers will be announced following mass.
