Norma Jean Blanscet, 93, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away on May 5, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Oklahoma on November 30, 1931, to Floyd Putney and Pearl (Jordan) Putney, Norma led a life rich in family, faith, and service.
Norma spent her childhood in Olathe, Colorado, and over the years, she made her home in several places including Eckert, Colorado, and Mt. Pleasant, Utah, before settling in Grand Junction, where she resided for the past 23 years. She worked as a hospital cook in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, as well as Delta Finance but was best known for her work in retail.
Norma married Donald Blanscet on September 19, 1974, in Durango, Colorado. She was previously married to Robert Lowrance.
She was an avid reader who loved baking, quilting, and gardening. Norma made countless birthday and wedding cakes for her family, many cherished quilts, and took great pride in her garden. Her love for family and traditions was evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her children, Robert Lowrance (Sharon Bray) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Glenna Bozarth (Perry) of Grand Junction, Colorado; her brothers, David Putney of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Dan Putney of Delta, Colorado; her sister Oneta Ballard of Albany, Oregon; five grandchildren, Quentin, Paula, Kevin, Stacey, Mandey; nine great-grandchildren, Fabian, KayLee, Breanna, Jenna, Caden, Brennen, Olivia, Kendall, Carter; and four great-great-grandchildren, Bearon, Elijah, Ellie and Maizie.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Donald Blanscet and Robert Lowrance; her son Raymond; grandson Christopher; four brothers, Harold, Joe, Paul, and Gene; and two sisters, Dee and Ruthy.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Olathe Assembly of God Church, with burial to follow at Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Colorado.
