A beautiful and devoted wife, a loving and inspirational mother and Grammy, a protective and strong sister, a fun and loyal friend- Ramona Leah Pippenger left an extensive fan club behind as she took her final breath, surrounded in love by her daughters and husband, on October 25th, 2022.
Ramona was a renaissance woman! A beautician, a supervisor, an amazing cook and confectioner, a caregiver, a crafter, an artist, a fix-it-all Mama who always knew the right advice to give. She was the life of the party, lover of the Christmas season, queen of the one liners, and had world famous dimples.
Mama saw so much in her life. From flying June Bugs on strings in the hills of Lafollette, Tennessee where she was born and raised, to taking all of her grandchildren to Disneyland for her 70th birthday celebration. Mama saw places far and near; Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and Las Vegas, how she loved Vegas! But the most amazing thing she ever saw was all seven of her grandbabies as they were born.
Lovingly known as Grammy, not just to her grandchildren but also by many others, Ramona’s finest role in life was guiding her three daughters through motherhood. Being Grammy was her biggest joy in life, she took so much pride in her grandchildren and loved having them over for slumber parties & game nights, and when each one of them was an infant, she snuggled them in her loving arms for hours. Grammy and Grampy’s house has always been home to everyone who loves them. It is the gathering place where so many wonderful memories were created, all the celebrations were had, tremendous love was shared, where so many children have grown up, and where Christmas is year-round. Grammy made that happen.
Ramona, Mama, Grammy- by any name, she was a pillar of strength and such a fighter. Mama fought breast cancer twice; bone cancer; covid; sepsis; COPD; polymyalgia; skin cancer; kidney failure; lymphedema and many broken bones. But she soldiered on, and still wanted to travel, see a show and go shopping at any point in time.
Ramona’s family will surely feel an immense loss in her absence. Our matriarch will always be at the forefront of our minds, hearts and memories. Ramona’s adoring husband John would be celebrating 53 years of marriage with her this upcoming December 27th. The life they created together is awe-inspiring and we all are forever grateful that these two crazy kids fell in love and worked hard to create the strongest, most passionate and laugh-filled family.
Ramona is reunited and dancing in the heavens with her beautiful granddaughter Gracie, her mother Margaret, Mamaw and Papaw, her father Rudy, brothers Dale and Johnny, and in-laws Bonita and John. Those on Earth forever missing her are her husband John, three daughters Michelle, Heather and Tenille, son in laws Bruce, Aaron and Brian, grandbabies Dakota and his wife Amanda, Austin and his fiancé Madeline, Blake, Corben, Barrett and Lilah, her brothers George, Ron and Mike, her sisters Billi, Rhonda, Beverly and Brenda and her best friends Bonnie & Shirley.
Ramona also leaves behind a massive collection of scrapbooking materials and her celebrity crush, journalist David Muir.
Mama, we love you more than all the fish in the sea, more than all of the stars in the sky, to the moon and back, you are our sunshine.
A celebration of Life & Love will be in the works, please keep in touch with the family for more details.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ramona Pippenger’s name to the Mike & Kay Ferris Hospice Care Center at Hope West, where they took such good care of Mama and our family while we basically moved in and made ourselves at home. We used a lot of their Kleenex.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MartinMortuary.com for the Pippenger family.
