

A California native, he was born in Long Beach and grew up in San Pedro where he worked as an industrial electrician until his retirement. He married his wife Linda Escarciga on the 7th of November 1964. After a wonderful life together in California, they moved to the Grand Valley where they enjoyed 13 years of retirement. Together, they raised two girls.
Ray came from humble beginnings but worked hard over the years and was able to provide a good home and lifestyle for his family. He completed an electrical apprenticeship and two years of college. His interests included camping, playing the Spanish guitar, and photography. He was a recreational pilot and at the peak of his retirement he owned a speed boat. He belonged to the Masonic Temple in Wilmington, California and served as a State Delegate for Hilary Clinton’s 2008 campaign. He was a gentleman, friendly to everyone he came into contact with, and cherished by his family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Escarciga, his two children; Laura (Richard) Witten of Hersham, Surrey, United Kingdom, and Natalie Escarciga, of Grand Junction, CO, grandson; Rowan Alexander Witten, and his siblings; Dolores Garcia, Mary Lujan, Esther Amaral, Larry (Lucille) Escarciga, and Jessie (Mark) Fulkerson.
Ray’s family very much appreciate all of the medical treatment provided by St Mary’s oncology department and ICU for Ray’s pancreatic cancer. Additionally, we wish to express a very special thank you to all of the staff at the Hospice Care Center.
Services will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 10AM, Tuesday, February 12th, 2013.
