Raymond served over 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a truck driver and transporter for over 30 years. He was also a carpenter. Clifton, Colorado, was his home for the past 16 years. He also lived in Soda Springs, Idaho, and San Leandro, California. His interests included hunting, fishing, and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Carol L. Diaz of Clifton; son, Allen Hughes of Bakersfield, CA; daughters, Julie Ann Pierce of Bakersfield, CA, and Rae Richardson of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Jim Hughes of Willows, CA; sisters, Joyce Birchfield and Betty O’Brien of Medford, Oregon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and extended grandchildren Diaz-Marquez family—eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Clifford Hughes.
Services will be held at a later date at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
