Ray was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Adam and Hattie Meininger. He attended Central Grade School through sixth grade. The family moved to Brush, Colorado where Ray attended seventh and eighth grade at Morey Country School. He rode his saddle horse to and from school because there was no bus service. He then attended Brush High School where he graduated in 1948.
He worked on the family farm for three years, and then served in the US Navy from 1951 through 1954. In Jan. 1955 he met the love of his life Peggy Grace Blake, and they were married on Sept. 11th, 1955.
He is survived by his sons; Mike Meininger of Silverthorne, Brad (Bette) Meininger of Grand Junction, and daughter Melody (Leonard) Charles of Fruita. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild on the way, one sister; Louise Shilling of Loveland Colorado.
Parents, two brothers, one sister, two grandsons, and a wonderful wife predeceased him.
Ray loved to dance, watch the Broncos, golf, and most of all he enjoyed his family.
Memorial services will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church 522 White Ave. at 2 P.M. on May 12th,2021. A visitation at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on May 11th, 2021. A private family interment will precede the memorial service at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 522 White Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501 in his memory.
