Regina M Workman

October 31, 1914 – August 22, 2010

Regina M. Workman passed away August 22, 2010, at Grand View Care Lodge in Grand Junction, CO. She was born on October 31, 1914 in Canon City, CO to Cyprian and Mary Hrica. The family moved to the Grand Junction area when she was three years old. Regina married Raymond R. Workman on August 1, 1939 at the Methodist Church in Grand Junction. Raymond and Regina danced together through almost 52 years of marriage before his death in 1991. Together they raised four children, W. Leota, Helen Louise, Raymond Alan and Jeanne Anne. Regina graduated from Appleton High School in 1931and felt she was ready to begin teaching. A school board member for School District 21 told her she was too young and to come back the following year. She returned, and began a 40 year career in the classroom. She spent summers acquiring more education, ultimately earning her college degree from Western State College in Gunnison, CO. For many years Regina taught third grade at Fruitvale Elementary, retiring in 1980. Regina is survived by three children, six grandchildren, and their children, earning her the new name G.G., for "Great Grandma". She was also close to her sister's family, nephew, Larry Reed; three great nieces, and their children. Also surviving is nephew, LeRoy Workman, and his family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, at Memorial Gardens. The family extends an invitation to former students, family and friends to share condolences and memories of Regina at a celebration of her life to be held at Long's Park, Mt. Garfield Pavilion, 3117 F Road, following the service. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to her many loving caregivers, and the staff of Grand View Care Lodge for their dedicated and compassionate care of Regina.
