Ben was a the owner and operator of Ben Lobato Landscaping and an honorable discharged United States Army veteran.
He leaves behind his sons, Marshall Chavez of Durango and Richard A. Lobato of Grand Junction; daughters, Bennie Lobato of Durango and Georgette Garcia and Ylene Lobato-Castro, both of Grand Junction; sisters, Mary Garcia of Durango and Mary Helen Leisure of Twin Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Martin Mortuary, 550 North Ave., in Grand Junction. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 330 White Ave., in Grand Junction. Burial with military honors will take place afterward at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway in Grand Junction.
