

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel.
Mr. Armstrong was a deputy sheriff.
He is survived by his wife, Karen L.; three sons, Richard and Jason, both of Parker, and Kurtis of Grand Junction; stepfather John Jarrell of Grand Junction; a brother Chuck of Grand Junction; two sisters, Linda Stanfield and Joyce Canon, both of Grand Junction; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Roger Armstrong, age 72, born at home in Lamar County, Texas passed away in Grand Junction surrounded by his loving family on July 7, 2015.
Roger graduated from Palisade High School class of 1960. He married his wife of 54 years, Karen Bailey on June 28, 1961. After attending electronics school in Denver and working in electronic repair shops throughout the front range of Colorado, he returned to the Grand Valley in 1967 to open Roger’s TV Service and later a television, appliance, and furniture store called Shur-Kare.
In 1976, Roger and Karen sold the TV business and began purchasing, remodeling, and selling several motels in Colorado and Nebraska. Also during this period, Roger obtained a Real Estate license where he listed and sold motels throughout Colorado.
In 1987 Roger decided to change careers and completed his Law Enforcement Certification and worked for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy until 1998 when he entered retirement to spend more time with his family and friends and to travel in their motorhome with his wife.
Roger is survived by his wife Karen Armstrong of Grand Junction; sons, Richard, Kurtis (Melissa), and Jason Armstrong; grandchildren Nicholas, Bailey, Lauren, Wyatt, and Hayden; great-grandchild Ryland; stepfather John Jarrell; brother Chuck; sisters Linda and Joyce; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roger was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Lorene Armstrong-Jarrell and his father Jim Armstrong. Roger was truly a pillar of support and love to our family and he will be sorely missed by us all.
