Sharon was born on August 21, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio from the union of her parents, Clarence and Sophie. She spent her childhood in Cleveland and graduated from the Saint Stanislaus School. She later attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
Sharon moved to the Mesa County area forty-four years ago and worked as a Human Resource Manager, Substance Abuse Coordinator and Trainer.
She married Jeffrey L Izienicki on December 4, 1965, he survives.
Sharon was a member of the Center for Spiritual Living and the Not Going Quietly group.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Jeffrey L Izienicki, two sons, Jeffrey A. Izienicki, Jayson L. Izienicki and a sister, Judy Hober. Sharon also leaves behind three grandchildren, Kylie, Sydney and Ashleigh to cherish her memory.
My beautiful wife Sharon was born to the wild river salmon clan. She spent her entire life
swimming upstream against the current of conventional accepted thought. She was one of those
people describe as an "old soul". Even as a young child she was inherently aware that social and
cultural norms and expectations were to be questioned and examined rather than blindly accepted.
Her physical beauty was only surpassed by her inner beauty. Sharon was a strong and intelligent
woman but, more importantly she was kind, compassionate and generous. She identified with the
"weird" people, those marginalized by society for not quiet fitting in. She never strived for
perfection but rather fought to be true to her beliefs and to live authentically. It was a good path
but, too often a painful one. She lived the life of the warrior.
Rather than flowers, please send donations in her name to her spiritual home; the Center for Spiritual Living, P.O. Box 4414, Grand Junction, CO 81502.
