Shawn Joseph Tranel, 59, passed away in Grand Junction, Colorado, on November 3, 2025. Born on August 8, 1966, in Craig, Colorado, Shawn was the beloved son of Roger and Bonnie Tranel, who ranched along the Little Snake River.
Shawn was a man of boundless energy and a heart full of love. He cherished his family deeply, found joy in bringing people together, and had a passion for cooking that brought smiles to many. Known for his big-hearted nature, fierce competitiveness, unwavering loyalty, and tireless work ethic, Shawn left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by the love of his life, Sara Meade, and his loyal dog, “ThaDale”. Shawn also leaves behind his mother, Bonnie Tranel; his brother, Jeff (Vanessa) Tranel; his sisters, Lori (Jim) Clikeman and Jody (Stan) Wolfe; and his cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Tranel, and his younger sister, Sherri Tranel.
A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rivers Humane Society or the Senior Center in Gillette, Wyoming, causes close to Shawn’s heart.
Shawn’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
