Sherry Lynn Shaffer passed away peacefully September 13, 2018, surrounded by her family. Sherry was born in Nucla, Colorado, to Wm. (Bill) Albert Vancil, Jr. and Shirley Mae Yuille Vancil on October 23, 1951.
She graduated from Grand Junction Central High School, briefly attended Mesa College, and spent her career working as a communications engineer for US West, formerly Mountain Bell. After leaving the communications field, she held a variety of jobs ranging from tax preparation to traffic control.
She is survived by her children, Jeremy Jon (Carole) Shaffer of Fort Worth, TX, and Amber Dawn (Rob) Farrell of Dayton, OH; brother, Wm. Glen Vancil; sisters, Bonnie (Orville) Petersen, and Linda (Bill) Votruba; and three grandchildren, Vivian Noelle Farrell, Victoria Natalie Farrell, and Lucas Liam Shaffer. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Shirley Vancil.
A private family gathering has been held in remembrance of Sherry.
