Sid was born in Grand Valley, (Parachute) Colorado at the Lindauer Ranch along Parachute Creek on March 21,1936 to Paul R. and Bessie E. Lindauer (Shults). He came from a family of pioneers that settled in the Parachute area back in the early 1890’s.
Sid had five siblings: Zelmo, Iola, Ivo, Lorraine and is survived by one sister Lynda MacLennan.
Sid is also survived by his wife, Ruth Lenore Lindauer (Bennett). They started dating while in high school in 1951 and were married on September 12,1957. They were married for 67 years.
He leaves behind two sons, Robin Ray Lindauer (Charlotte) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Sandy Ray Lindauer of Phoenix, Arizona and a daughter, Mindy Ree Lindauer of Parachute, Colorado. He also leaves behind four grandsons. Colten Ray Lindauer, Bryden Joe Lindauer, Adam Ray Lindauer and Paul Ray Lindauer.
Sid was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, analytical chemist, physical scientist, assayer, surveyor and rancher.
Sid was a member of the Mineralogical Society of America, the American Chemical Society and the Western Colorado Alliance for Community Action. He was also involved in clinical studies related to disorders of the central nervous system, specifically Parkinson’s disease which he battled with for many years.
Sid enjoyed playing the piano and guitar in his younger years, playing countless country music gigs and dances on the weekends. He also enjoyed traveling, gold panning, riding horses, basketball, tennis, golf and ranching. He was also fascinated with the universe and spent a lot of time star gazing and visiting astronomical observatories when he traveled. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
The celebration of his life will be held Friday, January 19th, 2024 at 11:00 AM. The service will be held at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church located at 132 Parachute Avenue in Parachute, Colorado. Graveside service will follow (weather permitting) for those who would like to attend. Reception to follow with family and friends at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church.
