In honor of our beloved husband, father, and friend—Sid Mitchell. We gather for this memorial to share memories and to celebrate his life.
Any endeavor Sid undertook in his life got all of his energy. His relentless work ethic saw him accomplish amazing things. Together with his wife, Kathy, they built a ranch in Sundance, Wyoming, a dream cabin in Colorado, and their home in Grand Junction, complete with Sid’s pride and joy—his fish ponds and waterfalls.
Sid played with the same energy. In his lifetime he enjoyed all of nature in countless hunting and fishing adventures. Several trips to Alaska to hunt and fish, as well as Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado—he left foot prints all over.
As a husband, Sid honored the commitment he made to Kathy on their wedding day: For richer or poorer, in good times and bad, and in sickness and in health, till death separated them. There was much in between, but it is that one commitment that sums up his role as husband.
As a father, simply the best, and in every way an inspiration. Exodus 20:12 says, “Honor your father and mother,” and Sid was an example worthy of honor.
Before Sid’s last breath, we witnessed him making peace with God, and then observed the last hours of his life being a changed man, by his countenance, demeanor, and what words he had left to speak. Romans 14:11 “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
Revelation 21:4 “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new’”.
