Susie Galloway died September 27 after a brief, but courageous, battle with leukemia. She was a florist in Seattle for many years, and taught in the Grand Junction area for the last 13 years, most recently at Caprock Academy.
Susie was born January 28, 1948, in San Bernardino, CA, and was raised in southern California. A florist by trade, she worked at Altadena Florist, studied art and design at Chico State, and moved with her daughter Tamsen to Seattle, where she met and married John Galloway, the love of her life, in 1988.
The Galloways moved to the Grand Junction area in 2000, where Susie earned a teaching credential at Colorado Christian University. She taught on the Mesa, then moved into Palisade and taught at Caprock Academy for many years. The Galloways were members of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Palisade.
Susie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John (2014); and brother, Steven Sheppard. She is survived by her daughter, Tamsen Galloway (Seattle); four grandchildren, Melissa, Grant, Merritt, and Kaitlin; four siblings, Robyn Grimes, Grand Junction; Melissa Weber, Monrovia, CA; Bill Sheppard, Pasadena, CA; and Bette Solomon, Sierra Madre, CA; and scores of dear relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her very much.
A consummate artist, Susie touched everything with her own individual flair. She loved Jesus and looked forward to dancing on the streets that are paved with gold before the Pearly Gates, and meeting her beloved family and friends there who have gone before her.
Memorial contributions may be made in Susie’s honor to the Galloway Scholarship fund at the Caprock Academy, 714 24 ½ Road Grand Junction, CO 81505.
Rosary will be Thursday, October 5, at 7PM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Palisade. Mass of Christian burial will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday, October 6, at 10:30AM.
