Theresa Mary Vargas

 October 15, 1938 - June 26, 2026 

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Theresa Vargas on June 26, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was 87 years old. 

Theresa was born to Consecion Ramirez and Guillermo Herrera in Eckert, CO, on October 15, 1938. She spent the majority of her life in Colorado, residing in Eckert, Delta, Fruita, and Grand Junction. Additionally, she lived in Idaho with her late husband, Morris Ladell Rowberry. 

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Theresa dedicated herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother. She also served as a childcare provider for over 50 years caring for numerous children. A devout Catholic, she was a diligent attendee of St. Joseph Church. Theresa found joy in outdoor activities such as gardening, visiting parks, and drinking coffee outdoors.  She was a huge Broncos fan, she also enjoyed reading, solving word search puzzles, and playing bingo. 

Theresa instilled in her family the importance of a strong work ethic, drawing from her upbringing on a farm where she began working at a young age and continued to work diligently throughout her life. Known for her generous spirit, she gave more than she received, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Theresa is survived by her former husband, Dolores J Vargas, her children Sandra Brumfield, Laura Bennett, Teresa Rowberry & Alisia Gomez. Her grandchildren Eric Brumfield, Travis Falls, Kristen Bennett, Dustin Brumfield, Ryan Bennett, Alexis Pagel, Anthony Pagel, Joseph Pagel, Johnson Falls, Michael Pagel, Gabe Gomez, Araya Gomez & Dominic Gomez.  Great grandchildren Leah, Rayna, Alexander, Paxton, Eli, Itzayna, Lorenzo, & Luke.

She was preceded in death by her parents Guillermo and Consecion Herrera, her sisters Bonnie Rodriguez, Sistie Miranda & Rosalie Herrera, her brother William (Bill)  Herrera and former husband, Morris Ladell Rowberry. 

Viewing and rosary will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Edfast- Callahan Mortuary from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at St. Joseph's  Church, 330 White Ave. Grand Jct., CO,  at 10 am. She will be put to rest at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2970 North Ave. Grand Jct , CO.

Reception to be held following the graveside service at St. Joseph's Church.
