Thomas Jacob Young

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Canyon View Vineyard Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Christina Terebesi; three sons, Tommy, Luke and Mathew, all of Grand Junction; two brothers, Butch Young and Paul Young, both of Grand Junction; one sister, Fern Smith of Grand Junction; and four grandchildren.

Thomas J. Young, 65, passed in his home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. He was born to LaVern M. and Gracie B. (Morris) Young in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Tom graduated from Grand Junction High in 1969. He later met and married his loving wife, Mary, while playing in a band. They married on May 31, 1974, in York, NE. Prior to his retirement after 24 years with the Division of Youth Corrections, Tom worked in many different fields from cook to mechanic.

He enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips, and bowling. He was known to many as “Coach” from his many years at Orchard Mesa Little League. He loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed spending time with his family. Tom enjoyed bringing people together with his wonderful cooking and sense of humor. He will be remembered as a great father, a Big papa, and a true friend.

Thomas is survived by daughter, Christina (Mike) Terebesi; sons, Tommy (Sara), Luke (Alicia), and Mathew (Rebecca) Young; brothers, Butch (Linda) Young, and Paul (Pam) Young; sister, Fern Smith, all of Grand Junction CO; granddaughters, Mary, Harper, Amelia, and Skylar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in the name of Marie Terebesi to the Thomas J. Young account at Bank of Colorado.

Viewing will be at 10:00am at Canyon View Vineyard Church with funeral services following at 11:00am on Thursday, August 18, 2016.
