Timothy Clark Chaffin, 39, passed away on the evening of November 19, 2016 in Grand Junction, CO. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend.
Tim (“Timmy”) was born on August 26, 1977 in Fairfield, Iowa to Charles Ray Chaffin and Patricia Louise Chaffin. In no time, he was making mischief with his older siblings, and soon after, training his younger siblings in the same playful shenanigans. Although the family moved often, his happiest childhood memories were made at the home next to his grandfather’s farm in Iowa. It was a place of endless corn fields, with wildlife and riverside adventures aplenty. As an adult, it is no wonder he settled in western Colorado, where he was happiest hunting, fishing, camping, and enjoying the great outdoors with family and friends. It was here that he welcomed three children - Jeremy, Branden, and Kelly - who he loved and adored. It was also here, in Grand Junction, that he fell in love with Danielle, his devoted wife of 8 years.
In 2008 he suffered kidney failure, and in 2010 he received the gift of a new kidney, donated by his nephew, Michael Chaffin.
He will be remembered for his embellished storytelling, his playful insults, his love for the children in the family, and the way he lit up every time a new baby joined the family. The time he spent rehashing old stories and digging up childhood memories - whether in the garage, around the campfire, or over morning coffee with his father - will always be cherished by those who were privileged to share it.
He is survived by: his wife, Danielle; his children Jeremy, Branden, and Kelly; siblings, Cindy McNamee, Pamela (Wayne) Murray, Ty (Brandy) Chaffin, Tina (Roger) Weber, Charles (Amanda) Chaffin, Daniel (Amanda) Chaffin, Juliana (Luke) Schaefer, and Lance Chaffin, all of the Grand Junction, CO area; 18 nieces and nephews, 9 great-nieces and great-nephews, and aunt Wanell (Stanley) Olsen. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Dan and Vickie Johnson; brother-in-law Michael (Veronica) Johnson and their child, Colton. He is survived by several friends that called him “family” and loved him as a brother.
He is preceded in death by: his father, Charles Chaffin; his mother, Patricia (Clark) Chaffin, and his brothers Walter and Chucky.
