Vera Mae Coleman of Grand Junction passed away peacefully on April 26, 2016 at her home, The Commons of Hilltop. She was 104.
Vera was born on February 24, 1912 to Paul and Edith Roessler in Broken Bow, Nebraska. It was here that she spent her childhood on the family farm alongside her four brothers.
She met and later married Volney Coleman on March 30, 1933. They moved to Grand Junction in 1959 and started Western Implement Company with their son, LeRoy. After 66 wonderful years together, Volney passed away in December 1999.
Vera loved being a homemaker and found such joy in growing beautiful flowers, especially African Violets. She loved to sew, crochet and do needlepoint and many of her loved ones were fortunate to receive one of her beautiful handmade treasures. She enjoyed her fishing trips to Blue Mesa and especially loved to watch the Colorado Rockies. Vera’s gentle, loving spirit will be greatly missed.
Vera is survived by her son, LeRoy of Grand Junction and daughter Norma (Leon) of Aurora; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and father, four brothers and her daughter-in-law, Bev Coleman.
