

Guy and Irene Van Horn. At the age of 15, she moved to Prairie City,
Iowa with her parents and siblings, where she graduated from Prairie City
High School in 1940. Virginia was a member of the Camp Center Church
of Christ, and it was here that she met Lloyd Walton Menard. The two
were joined in wedlock in 1942. To this union were born three children:
Judith, Sharon, and Michael.
Due to chronic pneumonia, The Menards moved to Colorado. They
eventually settled in Bergan Park, where they owned and operated
Menard's Log Motel, Menard's Grocery, Trailer-park and Campground. In
1974 The Menards sold their business' and moved to Lakewood,
Colorado, where they became members of Westside Church of Christ.
Selling her store did not slow down Virginia's keen mind for business as
she set up shop in her garage with numerous garage sales, often selling
crafts that she made.
Virginia was known for her resourcefulness and believed in "reduce,
reuse, and recycle" long before it became a trendy term.
Gardening was another favorite pastime of Virginia's. It was always a joy
to receive a basket of her vegetables, a jar of her jelly, or a container of
her Bread & Butter pickles.
Virginia's life was a living example of Ephesians 4:3 - and be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just a God forgave
you in Christ.
Virginia was proceeded in death by her husband Lloyd Menard, sister
Alberta Barrett, brother Max Van Horn, daughters Judith Bussert, Sharon
Norton, son Michael Menard, grandson Terry Norton, and great grandson
Matthew Bruens. She is survived by sons-in-law David Bussert, and Jim
Norton, a daughter-in-law, Renee Menard, Granddaughters Debbie (Landen) Brolien, Tammy Norton, Melisa
Bruens, and Amanda Menard as well as numerous great-grandchildren,
and great -great-grandchildren,
