Walt Mosher
August 20, 1938 - March 23, 2014
Walter Wayne Mosher passed away peacefully at HopeWest Sunday, March 23, 2014, with his family by his side.
Walt was born August 20, 1938, in Steamboat Springs, CO to Nellie and Charles Mosher. The family moved to the Grand Valley in 1946, where he attended and graduated from Fruita High School.
In 1958, he married the love of his life, Maureen Carey. Together they had three beautiful children, Bob, Mike, and Julie.
Walt worked road construction for 45 years, with most of those years spent as a project manager for Corn Construction. His job took him to many different areas of the four corner region. His family especially enjoyed the summers spent with him on the various job sites. Here, they met many lifelong friends.
Walt was an amazing husband, father, papa, and friend. His smile and quick wit will truly be missed.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandkids, tinkering in his shop, and the many gambling trips that he and Maureen took with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maureen; son, Mike of Palisade; daughter, Julie (Chris) McCallum; grandkids, Garret Mosher, Devyn, and Colton McCallum; brother, Floyd (Nita) Mosher, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Bob; his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, 1175 17 ¼ Rd., in Fruita.
Donations can be made to Hopewest Hospice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joel Bechtel for all his care and compassion for Walt over the years.
