Wendell K. Faircloth, age 61, died at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO on August 6, 2021. Far from home, Wendell was born in the small, rural Southeast Texas town of Vidor, to Walter Rice and Dorothy Nell Faircloth. He spent his childhood years in the surrounding Piney Woods region with his extended family spread throughout the area. He had a passion for the outdoors, even as a small boy, when locals would see him walking with his fishing pole and tackle box to the local Smith Lake to go fishing along with his favorite companion, a dog named Snoopy.
Wendell had a career in the oilfield industry where he made his living as an iron worker, a welder, a painter, and roofing. In addition to his deep love of the outdoors, he was a talented artist. In the Grand Junction area, Wendell was featured in the local news, the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, for his craft in making beautifully handcrafted juniper crosses.
A young Wendell, soon after completing high school, was married to Elaine Richard with whom he had three children, Salina Hancock of Groves, TX, Jesse Faircloth of Port Neches, TX and Dynell Arnold of Port Neches, TX. From a subsequent marriage to wife Kimberly, Wendell had another daughter, Wendy Ann Faircloth of Phoenix, AZ. He had 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include two sisters, Dynell Madden and Dana Burton, both of Vidor, TX, and a brother, Bobby Ray Williams Jr. Wendell was preceded in death by his mother and his youngest brother, Billy Raymond Williams.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Martin Mortuary of Grand Junction, CO, and burial will follow at Town Bluff Cemetery overlooking the Dam-B Reservoir in Texas.
