William “Bill” Perry died December 22, 2014 of natural causes. He was born October 27, 1931 to Rose Chiodo Perry and Eugene Perry in Silt, Colorado. He graduated from Grand Junction High School where he played football and was the Western Slope champion wrestler and continued wrestling for Colorado Mesa University, formerly Mesa College.
Uncle Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan for most of his career. Subsequent to his stint in the service, Bill moved to Phoenix where he was self employed. Upon retiring he returned to Grand Junction.
At any event, Uncle Bill was the life of the party. He always had an abundance of jokes, which he repeated frequently, and felt it was his station in life to insure that everyone was happy, and whatever the occasion, was filled with laughter.
His generosity was known far and wide. Family and friends were often the recipients of his willingness to share and take care of others.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Eugene and Ernest, sisters Dorothy Ventura and Sharon Smink. He is survived by sisters Helen Mix, Virginia Simonetti and Irene Ray.
A special thanks to Gilman and Sharon Smink (prior to her death in September of this year) for their dedication, kindness and care for Our Guy. Farewell, our treasured brother, uncle, cousin and friend and may the wind be always at your back.
Memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday January 3, 2015, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505.
