William Richard Martin

William "Bill" R Martin passed away Monday May 29 in Grand Junction, CO at 81 years old. A loving husband, devoted father and beloved grandfather, he is missed greatly. Bill was born in Grand Junction, September 23 1941, and spent his early years in the Grand valley until his family moved to Carbondale where he graduated from Roaring Fork High School in 1959. He worked at the Mid Continent Coal Mine in Redstone until it closed and then worked with his brother John at Roaring Fork Resources Sand & Gravel. He lived in Glenwood Springs for many years until retiring to Grand Junction in 2008. He enjoyed being outdoors with his family, boating, hunting & fishing and gardening. He is survived by Helga, his beloved wife of 48 years. Daughters; Colleen Poynter of Edgewood WA, Marissa [Brent] Hickmon of Glenwood Springs, CO and Sabrina [Matthew] Beach of Fruita, CO. His grandchildren Jessica Poynter, Ivy Blanchard, and Logan & Elliott Hickmon brought him lots of joy.

A graveside memorial service for William will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Crown Point Cemetery, 945 23 1/2 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505.
