Wilma C. Walker was born and raised in New Liberty, Colorado by her two loving parents, Clara and William Maluy. She attended school in New Liberty through High School with her siblings, Mae, Patty, Rex and Dale. Wilma and her sister Mae moved to a boarding house in Grand Junction to work at the Telephone Company where she met the love of her life, Louis Walker. Two years later on December 27, 1951, they were married and had two children, Norma and Garrett Walker. Wilma was happiest with friends and family, enjoying gardening, playing cards with her card group, traveling with her IMF Group, cooking and entertaining. She was known for her holiday dinners, baking and canning specialties.Throughout her life she sent special cards and gifts to family and friends for every occasion. Wilma loved to garden and give her flowers as gifts for friends and relatives. She was an active volunteer and a “devout” Democrat. One of Wilma’s greatest passions was archaeology and she loved to be outdoors. She spent summers fishing on the Mesa with her family. Wilma was a great neighbor and friend, always helping when she was needed before being asked. Wilma will be missed by her family and everyone she knew. She is survived by her son, Garrett Walker of Grand Junction; daughter, Norma Walker of Denver; grandchildren, Jake McKittrick of Glenwood Springs, Sarah McKittrick of Santa Barbara, California; and great-grandchildren, Kate McKittrick/Monroe and Mac McKittrick, both of Santa Barbara, California.
