Winnie Jane Peterson

Services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Ms. Peterson was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, James Oberding of Clifton; one daughter, Winnie Owens of Rye; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Winnie ""Jane"" Peterson

April 23, 1916 - February 21, 2016

Winnie Jane Peterson, 99, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016.

She was born in Sweetwater, Oklahoma to the union of Winnie Myrtle and Clyde Bell on April 23, 1916. She married William Oberding in 1940; he preceded her in death in 1978. Jane married Esper Peterson in 1961. Jane and Esper shared 25 years working on the Peterson dairy in Clifton until Esper's death in 1986.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Fred, Lloyd, and Albert Bell, sisters, Ellen Rash, and Eva Sykes and step-daughter, June (Don) Ray. She is survived by sisters, Cherry McElmurray of Oregon, and Frances Barrier of Grand Junction; sister-in-law, Billie Bell of Alaska; son, James (Dolly) Oberding, Grand Junction; daughter, Winnie (Don) Owens of Rye, CO; step-son, Dale Peterson of Moab, Utah; grandchildren, Clint (Nicole) Oberding, Kyle (Lori) Oberding, Clay (Jessica) Oberding, Zane Owens, Rochelle (Richard) Harmon and five great-grandchildren.

Jane loved gardening, flowers, music and the exotic birds she raised. She loved traveling to gather rocks for making beautiful jewelry. She was a member of The Greenhorn Valley Players in Rye, CO for 24 years.

Her last years, she spent in the wonderful loving care of LaVilla Grand Care Center Bridge To Rediscovery in Grand Junction. There are not enough words to describe the great care she received.

Funeral service and reception will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction on Saturday, February 27 at 2:30 p.m.
